yesterday i ran five laps around our neighborhood park, which works out to exactly two miles. i ran straight through the five laps without a single break and i felt pretty good. i admit i have a long way to go in terms of pace and i need to pick up another mile so i'm able to run in the pasadena 5k on may 15th. even though i used to run the mile competitively and ran track in high-school, returning to running has not been as easy as i thought it was going to be. i am really pushing myself this time around so hopefully i'll be able to run the 5k in 35 minutes or less, which breaks down to 11 minutes or so per mile (ouch!). hard for me to believe i used to run 5-7 minute miles when i was running all the time. but, it's never too late to get back to what you love and i'm determined to keep on running from here on out.
