aka evoke is a friend of mine who i met on one of my cross country trips. one summer i decided to take a train from oregon to massachusetts by myself just because i wanted to and because i needed to get home to new hampshire. i think i met pat within minutes after boarding the empire builder and taking my seat. as the train began to roll its way out of portland and just as i was about to crack open my book, pat plopped down next to me. honestly, it only took a few seconds to know we were going to be friends. you see, pat's a really interesting guy and he was showing me his artwork, which if you haven't seen is absolutely amazing, and talking about hopping trains in canada and all his adventures. i was intrigued then and still to this day inspired by pat's diy spirit and nomadic readiness and so, here i am a decade later after that cross country journey together, writing about him. we still manage to keep in touch and email from time to time to see what the other is up to.
