i bet you often wonder if there are any other epic rock n' roll flautists out there besides jethro tull's ian anderson. i mean, let's face it, who doesn't know who ian anderson is? the thing is, tull doesn't have a monopoly on woodwind-fronted bands. there is another jamming flute steered band out there but chances are you've never heard of them. the dutch group focus got their start around 30 years ago and were active up until 2001. the mighty thijs van lee is the guy who formed the band back in 1969 and it's his majestic flute skills you hear at the forefront. there are some pretty snazzy guitar solos wrapped into most of their songs too, kind of like a bonus to the flute.
